The Holy Essence of Nature - Origin of Essential Oils
The Secret Healing Arts of Mesopotamia
Now available exclusively as a purchasable film on YouTube. A documentary by Dr. Ali Achim Onur (approx. 30 minutes)
What if the roots of essential oils go deeper than we have previously assumed?
What if their origin lies not only in botany, but in the spiritual and medicinal knowledge of humanity?
This extraordinary documentary takes you back more than 7,000 years – to the heart of Mesopotamia, to the culture that is considered the cradle of civilization: Mesopotamia.
For the first time, the more than 7,000-year-old cuneiform texts of the so-called SAGIG are examined in their healing context. The original Sumerian sources – written in the oldest known written language of mankind – were evaluated and interpreted specifically for this project. At the center is a fascinating question:
> It is a journey to the origins of healing
The documentary impressively shows that essential oils were much more than just fragrances or ointments. They were considered carriers of divine power, mediators between humans, nature, and the cosmos. Aromatic essences played a central role in temple traditions, everyday medical practice, and ritual acts.
Based on the SAGIG texts, it becomes clear how sophisticated the understanding of the body, energy, and consciousness already was at that time. Illness was not viewed in isolation, but as a disturbance of a holistic balance—and plant essences served as tools to restore this order.
